PERFORMANCE
My goal is to bring out the best in the actors' performances while making sure the story is being told effectively. I may enhance or constrain performance as needed, focusing on each moment and beat to create the desired effect. If necessary, I am always ready to find unplanned footage to help the story.

Enhancing Performance
Even the most carefully planned scenarios can go awry. When performances fail to resonate at crucial moments, it can be challenging for the audience to follow the narrative. I understand the stress that unforeseen circumstances can cause, and I am prepared to handle these situations. Whether it involves meticulous take selection, techniques like VFX, digital morphs, split screens (to combine multiple takes), cutaways, ADR, lifted lines, speed changes, or scene intercutting, I can enhance the performance and bring the story back on track. In this particular scene, the actors didn’t quite capture the key moment when Eloise decides to confess why the Queen suspects her of being Lady Whistledown. By combining multiple takes of the same line with split screens and time-remapping, I was able to create the necessary "glances" (manufactured performances) to make this pivotal moment work.

A BRIDGERTON STORY

I'm always focused on the emotional depth of a scene and how it serves the story. Jessica Madsen, who plays Cressida, gave us two completely different performances in two takes—one snarky and coy, the other filled with fear. I carefully blended both takes to capture the best of her performances, even repeating a couple of shots with a timewarp filter to heighten her reactions and raise the stakes in the scene.
